AN INTRODUCTION TO SOCIAL MEDIA
#getwithit #what? #readon
Social media is changing the face of marketing as we know it: Facebook has over a billion users; more than 400 million tweets are sent on Twitter every day and two new members join LinkedIn every second (#uselessinfomuch?).
These stats should scare you if you're not already using social media to enhance your business profile. Social media can be utilised to reach the maximum number of customers and to generate new or potential followers and friends. (These would be familiar terms if you're a social media enthusiast :-) If not #get_with_it.)
Although social media is available to everyone, a mere personal presence on these platforms is not enough. To make use of social media effectively you need to understand how to apply it and have knowledge of the available channels and their capabilities. Integration of all the resources out there is key in the broader social media strategy, reaching the target audience, marketing goals and objectives.
This practical 9-week course provides a comprehensive overview of social media and how the various channels can be set up and used for marketing, community building and online reputation management. Students will learn about the “big five” social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Blogging – and will gain an in-depth understanding of relatively new platforms such as Google+ and Pinterest. The course teaches students how to integrate all networks into an overarching social media strategy.
Who should attend?
Whether you want to pursue a digital career within social media or you're looking to update or expand your current marketing skills set, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to take that first step. Alternatively, if you're a business owner or entrepreneur, you can utilise social media marketing skills to grow your own business and increase brand awareness.
