WEEKEND COURSE - INTERNET SAFETY FOR KIDS
With all the amazing possibilities the digital age have unlocked came some scary pitfalls. Parents know the tremendous benefits of the internet for their children, yet they’re not always sure how to deal with dangers such as cyberbullying, explicit sexual content, security threats and identity theft.
This course is designed to teach children between 8 and 12 years old how to safely navigate cyberspace. The challenge is to make children aware of potential dangers while still encouraging them to explore the educational magic of digital media. To keep kids enthralled, we’ll teach them basic layout and photo editing skills so that they can produce their own digital stories.
In between the creative fun exercises, we’ll take them on an online journey identifying the good, the bad and the dangerous on the internet. Our approach will not expose your child to harmful content, but it will make him or her a critical user of the internet. Our ultimate aim is to instil a sensibility that will be a lifelong benefit. The media literacy skills your child will learn in this course will be a valuable investment in his or her future.
